You’ll play through the game’s story across multiple characters such as Ruka and Choshiro, as they roam the Rogetsu Island in search of answers to the disappearance of all the island’s residents and what the Moonlight curse really is.
The settings of these games (coupled with my inability to run past ghosts without panicking) are fairly unique in the gaming landscape, and this entry is no different. I myself have very little experience with the Fatal Frame games, having played only the original way back on the original XBox, but not much more than a few hours.
Mask of the Lunar Eclipse originally launched on the Wii back in 2008 and only in Japan, making this the first official worldwide release. All the while exploring the world and discovering the truth behind the fall of what came before.

Developed and published by Koei Tecmo, the Fatal Frame game series (known as Project Zero in Japan) takes inspiration from old Japanese folklore stories and horror films alike, having the player explore many a mansion and town, facing ghosts that can be only taken out with the power of photography.

Too many good things huh?Well here are some bad things in this game.First of all you have to import it and you have to mod you Wii to play it (although it is very easy so don't worry).Also there are 3 bugs in this game.1st you can't capture some ghosts so you can't complete the Ghost list,2nd you can't unlock something because you have to complete the Ghost List,3rd in chapter 3 if you try to open a specific door in the middle of the chapter the game will freeze.Except from that,the game has some framerate problems in large rooms.Although the dedicated fans released an upgrade on the English patch which fixes the problem with the Ghost List so you can unlock the reward too.ĭespite it's flaws which would probably have been fixed if the game would arrive in NA & Europe,it is one of the best horror games ever made.It is beautiful and if you are a horror fan you have to get this game.An island engulfed in tragedy, a bizarre affliction, and self-inflicted wounds-welcome to Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse. The game has many unlockables too,it also has a ghost list in which every ghost that you photograph gets in this list and you can read information about it.There is even a mode which is called "Mission Mode" in which you play various small missions like "Kill these ghosts in 3 minutes" and you get ranks too. One thing that you will notice is that the enviroment of the game is Beautiful,from the creepy Hospital and operation rooms to the beautiful protagonist's house and the patient's rooms you will want to explore every corner of Rougetsu island! The Storyline is very interesting and very,very unique.You can understand it from the title i guess "Mask of the Lunar Eclipse".Although it is very comfusing and it has many unexplained things and pretty serious.Besides that the Storyline of the game is great and i will say it again,very interesting even if you have to replay it 2-3 times to understand most of it! The gameplay of this game is great.The exploration is simple and it is the first FF that used a new camera (over the shoulder) and added the grabbing-items/peeking in the series.Ofcourse they are not as good as they are in Project Zero 2 Wii Edition because it is older but they work great.The Fighting system is very unique and the most intense in the series because the ghosts move really fast!Although the game is pretty easy considering that the spirits die too quickly.
By GreekDarkShadow | Review Date: DecemPoor Fatal Frame IV,why did they leave you only in the Japan.So i was waiting 4 whole years to finally have the abillity to import it from Japan.This year after playing the excellent remake of Fatal Frame 2 (Project Zero 2 Wii Edition) i finally managed to get this game.
